I can't compare apples to apples, since we didn't have a live guide for our Neuschwanstein tour, but OnlineFolks™ recommended prioritizing Hohenschwangau for a live guide, and I can't complain. Our experience inside the castle was great, and there is a a lot of history to learn about from a person you can ask follow-up questions of, compared with Neuschwanstein's relatively short history.
