Inside, Hohenschwangau is much less extravagant than Neuschwanstein. Why? Certainly its long history and the lack of Mr. Extravagant's involvement in its construction is a reason. Another is that people actually lived here. Because Neuschwanstein was never finished, Ludwig never lived there. It was only ever a showpiece.
