ESCEE.com - 2024 - Hohenschwangau III: Schloss Hohenschwangau - 4/25
What we do know is that at some point "between 1440 and 1521," whomever owned this castle at the time sold it to the Wittelsbachs. It was then sold by the Wittelsbachs in 1535 to a non-Wittelsbach but the non-Wittelsbach died in 1549, and his heirs sold it back to the Wittelsbachs. But then it was plundered by the Austrians, and in 1820 Max I sold the castle yet again. But, then in 1832 his grandson Max II bought it back.
