We next arrived at perhaps the most fascinating room in the entire complex, the Grotto, which is exactly what it sounds and looks like: an artificial cave in the middle of the castle. This, as with much of the decor in the Fancy rooms, is related to the mythology of Tannhäuser, a Wagnerian character who became obsessed with the goddess Venus.
