Neuschwanstein Castle was an ambitious project. It was never completed. Designed to have over 200 rooms, only about 15 were finished before the Mad King's death. Construction stopped immediately once he died, and apparently within about six weeks it was opened to tourists (bizarre they didn't continue construction if they intended from the beginning for this to be a tourist attraction)
