We had expended our daytime hours at the Crime Museum and Vault, so the church interior was closed by the time we got here. As a result, we didn't get to see the Altar of the Holy Blood, which Richard Steves calls "the artistic highlight of Rothenburg and perhaps the most wonderful wood carving in all of Germany," by Tilman Riemenschneider, the "Michelangelo of German woodcarvers."
