Methods of punishment were discussed at length in the museum. We've already mentioned Shame Punishment (such as by this "neck violin" that would bind a defendant in public), but unsurprisingly death was also often a punishment. And the manner of death was prescribed based on the crime. For example, counterfeiting resulted in death by boiling or fire; manslaughter resulted in death by beheading; child murder was punished by drowning; adult murder was punished by "wheeling" (a torture device); grand theft was punished by hanging.
