The building that puts on the Show is the Councilors’ Tavern, which apparently did exactly what it says in the tin: it was the pub where the town councilors (the Guvmint) would hang out and get wasted. This was very convenient, as the Town Hall, where their Guvmint chambers were, is just next door, originally occupying the combined space of what is now the Old Town Hall (the 13th-century white building far left with the tall tower) and the New Town Hall (the 16th-century brown building next to it, facing the square)
