Going back to Munich, remember Hitler's focus on the city as the "Capital of German Art"? Well, this was highly controlled. Hitler had strong opinions on what good art was. Most modern art need not apply. In fact, one of the state art museums here in Munich actually had a "Degenerate Art" exhibit to display some of this modern art, with the intent of defaming and discrediting it, and the entire art movement, with disparaging "explanations" posted next to each piece of modern art.
