The coup failed, and Hitler was imprisoned to a five year's term for treason, which was itself considered a miscarriage of justice as Bavarian Justice Minister Franz Gurtner was sympathetic to the Nazi cause and protected the Hitster from a harsher sentence. Hitler was ultimately was pardoned by the Bavarian Supreme Court, and only served one year of his sentence. He wrote Mein Kampf during that one year in prison.
