Hitty made an impression on DAP Party Chairman Anton Drexler, who was impressed by Hitler's oratorical skills. Captain Karl Mayr, Adolf's Army supervisor and the head of the Army's propaganda division, ordered him to join the DAP, so he applied and was accepted in 1919. He quickly rose through the ranks and ended up becoming party chairman himself by 1921.
