This 1939 BMW 328 Roadster competed in the Mille Miglia Brescia-to-Roma endurance race (it won fifth place). It's incredibly light, only weighing 1,598 pounds, considered one of the most influential cars of the era for revolutionizing the low-weight class of auto racing. Many other automakers copied its design as well, adopting the swooping fenders and tapering rear end.
