We next came to Platzl Square, most famous for housing the flagship location of the Hofbrauhaus beer hall. While Hofbrauhaus is by far the most famous-worldwide of all of Munich's breweries and beer halls (it's been franchised and there are now locations in the US!), it also has royal origins. It was in fact the personal brewery of the Wittelsbachs, preparing the "court brew" (hof brau). We'll be back later on to experience the Joy® that is HBH.
