We made our way back to the Mönchsberg, the "rock" we climbed up earlier for views over the Old Town. You can see here that they've tunneled through the mountain (the tunnel is called the Sigmundstor), and that they also tried at one point (in the 17th century) to cut straight through it, but failed.
