This was commissioned by Akbar in 1569 for his favourite queen consort, Mariam-uz-Zamani, commonly known as Jodha Bai (this name is a misnomer invented by amateur historian James Tod, who calls her by this name in his Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan; unfortunately, it erroneously links her with the royal family of Jodhpur, rather than correctly with the Rajas of Amber)
