Refreshed and rejuvenated by the hospitality of our riad, we were ready to tackle the medina of Fes. It was just as stressful by day as by night. As soon as you set foot outside, you were immediately identified as a tourist and touts set out to not only harass you, but deliberately mislead you so you would require their help. Being told a path was closed when it was not was a common occurrence, so you would lose your bearings and require assistance (at a price). I walked straight ahead, today preparing to be entirely lost in the maze of the medina, hoping I would not embarrassingly come to a dead end, and never showing the weakness of consulting a map.
