Buried in the heart of a labyrinth, the Dali Theatre-Museum was put together by Dali during his lifetime to draw pilgrims to his hometown of Figueres. The building was originally a functioning theater. After Dali had become famous and long since left his hometown, the theater (as well as the town) were disappearing into oblivion and financial ruin. Dali decided to purchase the theater and convert it into a museum of his works and a 'playground' for his imagination. In doing so, he saved the theater from being torn down and brought business back to his childhood hometown.
