Alright, I said we'd come back to the seagulls. There's a statue commemorating this epic tale here in Temple Square. Apparently, the second harvest (1848) following "This is the Place" was almost decimated by insects. But then, so goes the tale, seagulls miraculously appeared to devour the insects and save the harvest - and the burgeoning Mormon community.
