Many of these families were relocated to areas like Nyanga, a blacks-only neighborhood, and had to leave their homes behind. This staged room recreates the single upstairs room that Nomvuyo Ngcelwane's family lived in on Cross Street in District Six before they were removed. She is one of the many people whose stories are told in placards throughout the museum.
