Leaving the museum, we came to the Grand Parade, Cape Town's pitiful little town square, headlined by this statue of Edward VII. Why Edward VII? Not sure. According to Wikipedia he had nothing to do with South Africa. A CTRL+F of "South Africa" in his Wikipedia article yields only one result and it is about Gladstone being appointed South Africa's first Governor General by George V, only relevant to Edward because he was friends with Gladstone.
