Franschhoek Cellars offered a particularly fun - if traditional - wine pairing option: wine and cheese. Merlot was paired with Gruberg (a South African native cheese made in the Swiss style), shiraz (which we bought a bottle of) with a boerenkaas (Dutch cheese) infused with cumin, and cab sauv with gorgonzola (an Italian blue)
