Using this information, Bra Jeff, who had a blacksmith shop at the quarry, was able to produce a blank key using his grinding wheel and whetstone. The key was refined over a week or so until they had successfully made a master key. They were caught by the warders in an unrelated incident of a contraband radio, however, so their escape plan was foiled.
