When we think about apartheid, we immediately jump to black and white. There were actually many more racial categories that were controlled by the legal infrastructure which comprised apartheid. There were various Asian races which were singled out (Indian was one of those, unsurprisingly, based on our discussion of Gandhi's time here), but one of the most significant was "coloured" (mixed-race).
