Today, this square is called Constitution Hill because it houses the Constitutional Court of South Africa (pictured here), the highest court in South Africa. In fact, it's kind of confusing that Bloemfontein is considered to be the seat of the nation's judiciary, considering that the highest court is actually housed in Joburg (the Supreme Court of Appeal, the second-highest court, is in Bloem).
