After leaving the Egyptian Museum (and walking straight through the police roadblock without being stopped, despite a change of guard), it was time for me to get back to the hotel. Unfortunately, our hotel was way, way, way outside of central Cairo. It was, in fact, on the outskirts of Giza, the key Cairo suburb that houses the most famous pyramids. It would cost me quite a pretty penny to hail a taxi all the way from central Cairo to the end of Alexandria Desert Rd. So I planned to try to shorten the distance between myself and the hotel as much as possible by taking the Metro first.
