The front hall of Springwood is bombastically FDR. This bronze statue is of him at the age of 29, which I guess is the age he wanted to eternally be (his godmother commissioned this bronze to commemorate Francis's entrance into politics in the NY State Senate). He was an obsessive collector, and his interests and collections were on full and unabashed display here in the entrance hall. Naval history was one of his biggest obsessions and you can see some naval artwork to the left.
