While waiting for my tour to begin, I was invited to browse an exhibit on the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, which was the 1901 World's Fair (this Fair exhibition, "Trip to the Moon," was the world's first dark ride! Actually even more impressive: it was like the Star Wars ride from Disney where you got out of the dark ride vehicle and walked around a papier-mâché moon, with live actors playing moonlings) Teddy was VP at the time and led the opening procession. Then, during the expo, President William McKinley was assassinated.
