The Fram is all about the Poles. She first belonged to Nansen, who tried but failed to reach the north pole (see this map). Then, riding high on the success of his Gjøaing, Amundsen acquired the Fram and, despite that we were just told he intended to follow in Nansen's northerly footsteps, he actually instead sailed to Antarctica and was the first to successfully reach the South Pole. In honor of this, we learned about igloos.
