Let's take a break from Amundsen and turn to Nansen for a moment. Although we're still on the Gjøa side of the museum, there is an exhibition here related to the Fram (which confusingly is the ship housed in the museum's other building), commissioned by Norway's national hero Fridtjof Nansen for an expedition which he hoped would be the first to reach the North Pole.
