ESCEE.com - 2022 - Oslo VII: Thor Heyerdahl - 4/35
We headed back to the docks, and came across this amazing statue, which is of King Christian IV's disembodied hand. In 1624, a huge fire destroyed the city of Oslo, which was at the time located across the fjord and made of mostly wooden buildings. Apparently after the 1624 fire, C4 pointed his finger on a map to the place where he ordered the new city be built (here, on the other side of the fjord, near Akershus which was unscathed in the fire). This sculpture recreates that moment. How very Mormon ("This is the Place")
