There is a visitor center, but it is currently closed as the NRAO has been unable to hire staff to man it, post pandemic furloughs. We drove up to the entrance, as the access road was along one of the rail tracks and provided some different views of the telescopes. After several minutes of telescope-viewing and photo-taking, a security guy approached us and we thought he was going to tell us to leave even though we were outside the area of the "turn around here" sign. Instead, he just gave us a tip on the best place to photograph the telescopes (the part of US-60 where we had started), and then drove off. Wholesome.
