travel log
So, I decided to take the Cairo Metro in the direction of where I was going. The hotel was nowhere near any Metro station, but if I could at least cut the distance down, it might be more likely for me to find a taxi driver willing to go there (and I'd save money on taxi fare). The Metro in Cairo is one of only two Metro systems in Africa, the other being a yet-unopened system in Algiers. It is very busy, and not very extensive (there are only two lines) although there are plans to build two more lines including one that will connect to Cairo Airport. Nonetheless, it is a bargain at only 1 Egyptian pound per ride (about $0.20 US)
