Now, it was time to head back to the hotel (I walked straight back through the same police roadblock, and despite a change of guard, I was not stopped and did not have to show my bags or passport... interesting) Unfortunately, the hotel the tour company had chosen was way out of the way, on the outskirts of Giza, the key Cairo suburb that houses the most famous pyramids. It would cost a lot of money to hail a taxi from central Cairo, and that's if a driver would even be willing to go all the way out there, considering it would be tough for them to find a fare coming back.
