In all mosques, you typically have to remove your shoes. But because this mosque is so large and exposed, there are actually attendants who put cute little oversized socks on over your shoes. Remember, you can't wear shoes inside a mosque. But, since this mosque is all outdoors, you kind of need to wear shoes: the solution is these booties that prevent the soles of your shoes from coming into contact with the worship surface of the mosque.
