Let's not mince words. Greyhound sucks compared with Amtrak. But, it was not as bad as I had been led to believe. It was "fine," but it was nonetheless a huge step down from my planned train travel. Luckily, I got a two-seat "pod" all to myself. And once in Jackson, I would be able to catch an onward train to New Orleans, as the trains from Chicago (which take a Chicago-Jackson-NOLA route) were coming through as scheduled and unaffected by the storms in the Carolinas.
