This church once housed a relic, a scarf worn by Mary. When fire destroyed the church and scarf, the faithful correctly predicted that this would portend the conquering of Constantinople. Although the relic is gone, the spring is still here, and lots of Greek pilgrims come to fill bottles with its water.
