It's an interesting dynamic: in the US, the wealthy flee the city for "the hills" (think Hollywood Hills and Bel Air in LA), but in Lima the poorest live in the hills and the wealthy live in the "inner city." This was a conflictful visit: with experiencing the positive attitudes of the residents here, it is easy to glamorize/fetishize poverty. But that we came bearing donations of food helped place the visit in context of need and wealth inequality.
