Perhaps though the best thing about PDX is their "street pricing" rule. This means restaurants which have operations outside of the airport (so any chain even if it is just a chain consisting of 2 locations, one airport and one downtown) are required to offer the same pricing. So food is priced "normally" rather than inflated at the airport. This also means you can have a somewhat "nicer" meal which provides a sampling of Portland's local cuisine without draining your whole wallet. So we ate at The Country Cat, a farm to table restaurant which serves local beers in these huge mugs.
