Many of Disney's rides have been updated and tweaked over the years. Some in a way that many fans have found offensive to their sense of nostalgia or integrity. I think this is one of the major tweaks to HM: the models of these hitchhiking ghosts were updated to reflect the designs from the movie (there was a movie????????) which is a pretty minor tweak in my opinion.
