Speaking of God, we returned to Iona in time for the evening worship service. Iona functions nowadays as a retreat center. Folks wanting a spiritual escape come to the Abbey on Iona and stay for a week, and follow a discipline that includes multiple worship services per day. The services are, however, open to the public, so we could attend. Most people just visit Iona as a day trip (e.g. from Oban) and the last ferry back to Mull leaves before the services, so only those staying overnight can really take part.
