ESCEE.com - 2008 - Czestochowa and Auschwitz - 30/32
Although this mural suggests the restaurant was founded in 1364, that is not the case. In 1364, Kazimierz the Great hosted a feast for various royals in the home of wealthy merchant Nicholas Wierzynek. The restaurant however was not founded until 1945 when the communists eminent-domained a home purported - but not confirmed - to be the same home that hosted that famous feast, in order to set up a state run restaurant. Since 2001, the restaurant is privately owned.
