travel log
This is Auschwitz in the Polish town of Oświęcim (Auschwitz is the "Germanization" of this Polish town's name). The famous Arbeit Macht Frei translates to the incredibly Orwellian phrase "work shall set you free." Note the "B" is upside down, which some speculate reflects a rebellious spirit in the prisoners who were forced to make the sign.
