The Roma are traditionally nomadic, so it is puzzling that they would build permanent homes like this. So a possible explanation is that these homes were actually built by the expelled Jews and Muslims. Perhaps the Roma just settled in these already-built homes once non-Christians were finally allowed back into the city (Sacromonte, by the way, is absolutely within the present-day city limits of Granada)
