Eventually, we mustered up the courage to return to the medina. We checked out Bab Boujloud, the gate by which we arrived last night, in the light of day. This gate is actually fairly modern, built in 1913 by the French. There has been a gate here with this name as far back as the 12th century, but it was a much less ornamental gate, with defense, rather than splendor, in mind.
