Unlike the courtyards, these Ceiling Rooms had... ceilings. Charles V was the ruler of Spain at Spain's zenith. His marriage to Isabella consolidated swathes of the Portuguese empire under the Spanish banner. He was a devout Christian, and was not happy with the Islamic-looking Mudejar ceiling in this room. So he had it replaced with the Renaissance style one you see here.
