The cathedral is towering, with 130 foot ceilings, despite the ceiling height of the mosque being only 30 feet. The styles couldn't be more different. The mosque (other than the mihrab) is simple, austere. The mosque is horizontal, rather than vertical. It inspires a sense of intimacy and connectedness with God, while the church makes one feel small and fearful of God. The church's Gothic style clashes with the Moorish arches of the mosque.
