The most famous of the many side chapels here is the Chapel of St. John the Baptist. It's a big fucking deal, and at the time was the most expensive chapel in all of Europe. It was assembled in Rome and consecrated by Pope Benedict XIV, who gave one single papal mass in it in order to ensure its successful consecration; it was then it was disassembled and shipped to Lisbon.
