We then headed over to a nearby ferry terminal. Trying to buy tickets was the most difficult thing of our entire trip, language-barrier wise. The man at the ticket counter did not seem to understand English. We didn't dare try Spanish: the Portuguese have a chip on their shoulder about Spain. Our broken Portuguese did not seem to be effective, but we kept trying and eventually were able to procure two tickets with the help of hand gestures.
