Unfortunately, this story doesn't hold up because carbon dating says she is only about 800 years old, which pretty much dates her back to the time when she was discovered in the 12th century, rather than all the way back to the time of Sts Luke and Peter. Nonetheless, she's still a big deal to all the people who come from very far away to seek Mary's blessing.
