travel log
One long, winding, not-a-direct-shot-cable-car, motion-sickness-inducing bus ride later, we made our way to the Po Lin Monastery, most famous for the Giant Buddha, but actually much older than the Buddha statue. The monastery was founded in 1906 and the Buddha wasn't built until 1993. Po Lin is still a functioning monastery today, although a LOT of tourists come here just to see the Buddha, hence the construction of the fancy cable car.
